Crawley's Manor Royal Business District is the biggest business park in the Gatwick Diamond area and one of the south east's premier mixed activity employment hubs. Situated adjacent to Gatwick Airport on the Sussex and Surrey county borders, it provides almost 10 million square feet of commercial floor space across an area of 240 hectares. It's home to more than 600 businesses and generates around 30,000 jobs.
Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID) exists to deliver a host of projects, initiatives and improvements specifically benefiting the BID's businesses and their staff.
The vision for the Manor Royal BID is "For Manor Royal to be widely regarded as the place where companies and people choose to be for the strength of its business community and the quality of its trading and working environment." Around £2.6 million is being invested to improve the business district in the five years up to 2023, along with any additional funds the BID team secures from third parties.
Crawley was awarded £1 million of "accelerated" Towns Fund money from the government last year, which is being invested in regeneration schemes including four new "micro parks" in the Manor Royal Business District. These will improve the public realm in the area, ensuring employees will be no more than five minutes' walk away from an outside space to sit, rest or have an informal meeting.
