Teaching Assistant at a local primary school
How did you hear about this service?
I was reading through a recent issue of Crawley Live and the advert for Employ Crawley caught my eye. I’d been looking for job for a while and needed some help, so thought I would go along and see what the service had to offer.
What made you decide to use us, is there anything specific that you needed help with?
I've used other organisations before and didn’t find them that helpful as they didn't spend a lot of time with me to find out what I really wanted to do, which was disappointing.
I liked the fact that Employ Crawley is a local service run by the council as I think it's important that those looking for employment feel like the council are here to help and support them in a more hands on manner, using their local connections.
What were your first impressions?
The Hub is a really nice space and I felt really comfortable talking to Julie who was really welcoming and helpful.
What did you think of the service you received? Was there a particular part of the service that you liked specifically? If so, what?
Julie was great, I met with her three times and she was really prompt when answering emails in between visits. She always answered my questions, no matter how silly they might have been.
She was very encouraging in my search for a job in my chosen field and gave me advice and assistance on a whole range of things, including helping me to create a CV and working with me when filling out a job application.
When it came to preparing for my interview, Julie made sure I was ready with lots of tips on what to say and do.
Overall I really liked how personal the service was to me and my specific requirements. I think this is important because job hunting can be a difficult and intimidating thing if you’ve not done it for a while. So having a service that suits each individual person’s needs is great.
Would you recommend the service to others looking for help? If so, why?
Yes definitely, the service is local and accessible for everybody. I felt like Julie put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that I was as ready as possible to find employment. Even though I have successfully found employment, I know that I will continue to receive support from Julie as I look to progress in my new career as a teaching assistant.
